Christmas is a time for...Spending Money?!?

Christmas is a joyful time that everyone looks forward to, it is an opportunity to be reunited with loved ones, eat lots of food, drink lots of wine and give and receive presents. Living in London means I am over 200 miles away from my family so when the festive season nears and I pack for home, I am as excited as a small child.

To me, Christmas is not about receiving the latest technology, expensive clothes, shoes, handbags, make-up etc; it is an opportunity to spend time with my family who I often do not see for months on end. This year, my family and I decided to break from the conventions and put a limit of £10 per person per present, yep! £10 on each person. What a great idea this was! My family is ever expanding with new babies and new in-laws and often leaves me penniless for the new year; this year I had plenty of money left over for my Italian Cruise and ready for New Year. Many of you may wonder what on earth one can buy for £10...well here are a few examples...

Everyone was thrilled with their presents and we all had fun shopping around finding presents for each other without worrying how much someone else was spending or whether it was too cheap/expensive. This idea will most probably stick for future years and may spread to other households!
