Prague

Last weekend I was jetted off to the Czech Republic's capital city, Prague. The city is beautiful; it is full of culture, history, beer and food. Holding onto it's national currency, the Czech Korona, Prague is remarkably cheap at 80p a pint and about 5 pound for a meal. The weekend was magical, the city was covered in snow and the air remained still, yet cold.

We engaged in a 'free tour' which takes place 3 times a day from the Astrological Clock. The tour lasted 3 hours and we learnt tonnes about the history of the country and the city, about the culture and about the landmarks. If you go to Prague, I thoroughly recommend the free tours, they are so worth while!! But don't forget to tip your rep as they work solely on the tips!

Furthering out tour experience, we went on a 'Beer Tour' and were taken to 4 different pubs to taste the local beer. The first place was called 'Beer Museum' and we had a selection of tasters - 5 different beers in tumblers to try a selection of beers. Sean and I ordered 2 tasters and tried 10 beers between us. The second bar brewed its own Pilsner straight from the barrel. The third bar also provided us with the local cuisine - fried cheese and goulash - yum yum. The fourth bar was a communist bar and had lots of communist memorabilia on the walls. The was my favourite bar, it had great music and had a really cool atmosphere. A few of us headed onto a fifth bar called 'The Pub' where we poured our own beer. Later that night, we stumbled home after a large consumption of beer.

Sean surprised me with tickets to the opera on Sunday. We went to the Prague State Opera to watch La Boheme by Puccini. The Opera House is dubbed the most beautiful operatic house in Europe - and it didn't fail to impress. Embracing the 5star life we acquired during our stay, we had front row seats and had a sophisticated drink before the opera began. The opera was fantastic, the singing was phenomenal and the story was rather touching.

On our final day in Prague we went on the 'Castle Tour' and were taken around the oldest Medieval castle in the world. The views of the city from this high view-point were magnificent and the architecture was breath-taking. I took so many photographs and I can't possibly document them all on here; take a look at my facebook for a grander selection.

Prague had been on the top of my 'To-do' list for a while and it excelled my expectations. It is a gloriously amazing city and I highly recommend it to all those that love a good, cultural city holiday.
