My boyfriend, Sean, generously treated me to some drinks in Vibe Bar before we finally settled on the restaurant 'Aladin'. Brick Lane felt like a street in Turkey, where all the shop keepers, waiters etc are attempting to drag you in to their shop/restaurant, bragging about what they have to offer and their fantastic offers. The street was alight with advertisement and shop lights, reminiscent of a 'strip' in such resorts as Malia, Kavos etc.
We chose 'Aladin' because it boasted some credible rewards, yet was free of haggling, which we took as a very good sign.
The food arrived prompty and it was delicious!! Sean braved a Vindaloo and descibed it as 'not the usual local curry house vindaloo' in other words, it was really hot! I tasted a bit and decided that was enough for me. I went for a milder curry as well as endulging in naan bread, rice and 2 side dishes. Om nom nom!!
I made my Dad, a massive curry fan, envious by texting him and telling him about all the food we were eating and told him he would find Brick Lane 'heaven'. He will be making a trip himself soon, I'm sure.
For all those Brick Lane virgins out there, I strongly recommend a trip to this famous street in Aldgate. I had an enjoyable night and ate some scrumptious food that filled me up till the following mid-day.
