The media and the public are in awe of Kate Middleton at the moment, calling her the 'Best Dressed', 'the next Diana', and a 'perfect princess'. I am not ashamed to say that I have been swept up in the Kate-Mania, I love the Royal Family and think Kate will make a brilliant Queen.
I was glued to the T.V. on the 29th April to watch the Royal Wedding; it was the first Royal event I have witnessed (I was too young to remember Diana's funeral) so I was very excited in the proceeding weeks and when the big day arrived, nothing could move me from the couch. I thought the ceremony was beautiful and thought Kate looked amazing and despite the later comments, I do not think her sister, Pippa, came close to upstaging her. The ceremony celebrated what Britain is about. I really do not understand how people can criticise the Royal family, they provide so much historical context to the country, bring in so much revenue from tourists. Furthermore, nowhere in the World does one see such spectacles with the horse-drawn carts, fabulous clothes, ridiculous hats and millions of spectators. And...we got a day off work!
Since the big day, the country has been watching Kate's every move, from a trip to the supermarket to her first Royal visit to Canada. There have been endless television programmes about her and many articles in magazines (both trashy and acceptable), on the internet and in the newspapers.
The Duchess of Cambridge appears to be rather down to earth. She is her own stylist; she does her hair and make up herself (if I was the future Queen of England with the opportunity to have a stylist, I would most certainly relish in the idea); she only wears British designers and shops on the high street!
I must say, I am ever so slightly jealous of Kate (as are most of the female population). She wears fabulous clothes and shoes, is able to travel the world and is married to a rather good looking chap who happens to be the future King of England who quite clearly adores her. Let's face it, every little girl wants to grow up and be a princess.
I have my ticket booked for the Summer Opening of Buckingham Palace where Kate's dress, her tiara and mock bouquet are on display and I cannot wait!!!
