Book v Kindle

There's nothing I love more than curling up with a good book. I love books. I love the feel and the smell of a brand new book; or the feel and smell of one of the old favourites that has gone slightly discoloured and gathered a bit of dust from the shelf, but I love nevertheless.

The UK has gone crazy with the Kindle, they're everywhere! On the tubes, on the bus and even in the gym. But I am not swayed by this new craze, 'curling up with a Kindle' doesn't have the same ring to it. I appreciate that it is a lot lighter than a book and would ease the pain on the arm and the hand as you try to cling onto a pole on the tube whilst balancing your book in the other (I painfully experienced this whilst reading 'Shantaram', a 1000 page killer).
Also, when you're in the gym, it'd be easier to balance the Kindle on the machines so you can read whilst shredding the calories. However, you can cycle and hold a book! And I would never suggest trying to read whilst on the treadmill, something is bound to go terribly wrong!
Further, when you're on holiday, it is nigh on impossible to get comfortable with a book; I assume a Kindle resolves this issue that even the brains of The Apprentice were unable to solve. Going on holiday for a week or two definitely requires a couple of books which can take up space and weight in the luggage; again, the Kindle comes to the rescue as it can store 1,400 books and can live for one whole month before re-charging is necessary.

Although I am aware that the Kindle has many benefits, I don't think I'll be purchasing one any time soon. I'll stick to my good old book and the aching arms for now.
