I didn't make any new years resolutions for 2011 but achieved a few great things; completing the Berlin Marathon, raising money for the British Heart Foundation, being appointed Student Mentor, celebrating my longest relationship :)
2011 had its ups and downs and was a roller-coaster of emotions but I feel I became a more positive person and able to look on the bright side of life.
This year I have decided to make a few resolutions (in no particular order):
- Look after my nails - I do like having painted and shaped nails but have gotten rather sloppy recently so will make sure I maintain them on a daily basis.
- Participate in the Great North Run - I have entered the ballot so fingers crossed!!
- Do well in my exams - This goes without saying really.
- Limit the procrastination - I will start writing my next piece of coursework as soon as this is published!
- Read more books - I love reading but often do not have time so I will make sure I read every night, even if it is just a few pages.
- Be more patient - In the past year, my patience has been tried and tested and has definitely improved. However, there is still room for improvement, so I am going to take a leaf out of my flatmate, Amanda's book and be calmer when times get tough.
- Take more pride in my appearance - Often I go to lectures with minimal make-up and hair shoved on top of my head. 2012 is the year for glamour.
- Drink less tea - As you all know I am a lover of the good old brew, but I have realised that it probably isn't the best drink. So, I am going to drink more water and herbal teas (calm inducing teas to help with resolution number 7).
- Keep in touch with friends - Whether they be abroad, in Wigan, Todmorden or sourthern parts of the country.
- Be healthier and learn how to cook new things - I am already super healthy but could cut a few stodgy foods out of my diet. My new cooks books will aid this and I will be the goddess of the kitchen before this year is over.
I've already set the ball rolling by starting on a few of these things, but some of the others will take time. It will be interesting to read my list this time next year and see what I can successfully cross off. Fingers crossed I can keep on top of them all, I will let you know how I am doing :)
